We recently opened our doors to a group of enthusiastic students eager to learn what it’s like to work in the accounting industry.
Over the past month, these bright young minds have embarked on a week-long journey through the firm’s various departments, gaining hands-on experience and a taste of what a career in accountancy entails.
Our team were thrilled to welcome Salma Abdi and Saarugan Vivekananthan from Kingsbury High School.
Salma, currently studying A Level Maths, Economics, and English Literature, and pursuing a Higher Sports Leader Level 3 qualification, particularly enjoyed her time in the Tax department.
Meanwhile, Saarugan, who is tackling A Level Maths, Further Maths, Economics, and Physics, enjoyed his experience in the Accounts department.
Justin Braudo from JFS School also joined the firm, with his A Levels in Mathematics, Economics, and Geography.
Justin actively engaged with each department, finding the experience greatly beneficial for his understanding of the accounting field.
We were also excited to also host Gus Cohen from Yauneh College, studying Economics, Religious Studies, and Sociology at A Level, and Zain Khan from Aldenham School, who is eagerly awaiting his GCSE results.
The feedback from the students has been overwhelmingly positive. One student shared, “I had a very great experience that was very insightful about the different departments and things accountants do.
“Also learning the path to become an accountant, such as going to university or pursuing an apprenticeship, and the different exams required to become fully qualified.”
Another student noted, “My overall experience was excellent as now I have a clear understanding of the different positions in accounting – which I didn’t know at the start of the work experience.
“During the week, Nazmul and his friends and I had a discussion on which is preferable, an Apprenticeship, or a University degree to become an accountant. This had made me have a clear insight on which is better for me.”
Commenting on the initiative, our Associate Director, Sarah Dorey, Associate Director, said, “Our work experience programme is designed to bridge the gap between education and professional practice.
“By giving students, a hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of our industry, we aim to inspire and guide them as they consider their future career paths.
“Seeing the students engage so enthusiastically with our teams in various departments reaffirms the value of our work experience programme.
“Plus, with the positive feedback we’ve received from the students, we know that we are actively providing valuable insights and sparking enthusiasm for the accountants of tomorrow.”
