Having joined Grunberg & Co in July 2012 as an AAT Trainee, I achieved the ACA qualification in December 2016 and I am now an Associate Director.

During my time with the firm, I have been responsible for leading many large and multi-national group audits, mentoring junior members of team and overseeing the preparation of unincorporated accounts.

I also work closely with Partner, Alex Kossoff, on the management of his portfolio, supporting a range of clients from self-employed or newly incorporated businesses through to established groups of companies. This involves day to day queries, preparation of year-end financial statements, managing group audits and additional support in between.

Having started my career as a school leaver, I achieved my chartered accountancy qualification at 25, even after missing a year of education, an achievement of which I am incredibly proud.

I have experience dealing with large group audits.  A recent accomplishment was overcoming a significant delay to a large group of audits.  The delay caused other issues which we had to problem solve. However, as a team, we managed to complete all the audits with some strategic planning and a great team effort. These are the sorts of projects I love.

I joined Grunberg & Co in August 1995, whilst seconded to another company. I now have a large client portfolio who I assists with general personal tax compliance.

For many years, I also dealt with Corporation Tax compliance matters for clients and still provide some assistance to businesses in this area.

My aim is always to complete tasks to a high standard, which is why I am determined to see work through to the end and maintain a strong turnaround within a satisfactory timescale.

My time at the firm has seen numerous demanding changes, some of which never existed when I first started, and so I have tried to meet and overcome these to provide effective advice.

I am also a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and have been registered as a Chartered Accountant since 2021.

Recently, I worked on an audit for a large equipment rental company in the US. I spent over 600 hours on the audit which included work on acquisitions, opening balance testing, multiple entities within the group and consolidation. This was challenging due to the sheer volume of work, the stringent deadlines, and the fact that the audit was completed using US GAAP. However, by working as a team, we were able to complete the audit on time and the client was very happy with the result.

I plan to continue gaining experience of audits in as many different sectors as possible, one of the many reasons I chose to work at Grunberg & Co.

My top tip for current and potential clients is:

If you are planning to sell a residential property, try to get this over the line as soon as possible. The capital gains tax rates are likely to go up in future years, and so a delay in selling could lead to you paying a lot more capital gains tax in a future year.

I take a tailored, client-first approach to all of my work. I will switch up my approach to what suits the client, for example, if they prefer to talk over the phone or correspond via email only. I will identify these requirements and cater to them as best as I can.

When facing a challenge, I break down the problem into its component parts and then solve each component one at a time. Eventually, this helps me to arrive at the correct solution to the overall problem.

I have been with Grunberg & Co since 2012, taking a proactive role in the management and collection of debts for the company.

I oversee the collection of customer accounts, developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, helping to resolve financial queries and assisting with payment plans to ensure the timely payment of invoices.

I joined Grunberg & Co in January 2018 and provide day to day assistance to Alain Stechler and Sanjay Parmar, often fielding calls and being the first point of contact for the Partners and their managers.

My work involves extensive diary management and ensuring deadlines are met in relation to clients’ and Companies House.

I regularly prepare account packages/statutory document, type correspondence and assist with client invoices.

I also deal with credit control enquiries and meet and greet clients.

I like to build relationships with the clients and enjoy assisting them where I can.
