FedEx announces £20,000 grant to help UK SMEs go global

A new £20,000 grant has been launched by FedEx Express to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) go global.
The Small Business Grant objective is to help SMEs across the UK realise their international potential by providing them with a platform to expand their organisations.
Martin Davidian, Managing Director, Sales UK North and Ireland, FedEx Express and TNT, said: “Small and medium businesses are the backbone of the economy and in order to help fast-track their growth, more often than not a ‘boost’ is required in terms of funding. Gaining access to funding is no simple task and for SMEs, it can be increasingly challenging.
“The SME market has dynamic companies which have huge potential for growth and development and at FedEx, we want to help them evolve, to have access to more possibilities, to become more competitive and to better support their international endeavours.
“The Small Business Grant provides an opportunity for small businesses to overcome market challenges and focus on their international expansion.”
Grant entries are open until 28 November 2018. Selected SME finalists will be asked to provide further information to a panel of local experts which must include; how they plan to go global, a strategic vision for the future growth of their company, international achievements as well as highlighting their ethical standards.
SME owners that would like to be considered for the Small Business Grant must register online and showcase their global expansion ambitions and future business success for the judge’s consideration.
The competition winners and runner-up will be announced on 24 January 2019. Two tiers of grants will be awarded; a grand prize of £20,000 and a runner-up prize of £10,000.
